Welcome to our second edition in our let’s get kids moving series. We’ve picked exercises that don’t need any specific equipment, so that you can do this at your house super easily!
Kids Circuit Class
If you remember the HIIT class we did at the beginning of the school holidays, we picked 10 exercises. The ones we are doing in our Kids Circuit class are the rest of the exercises. You can mix and match to keep it interesting for the kids (or yourself!!).
The circuit consists of a series of exercises that we do for a set amount of time, then move on to the next exercise. I suggest you start with 1min or even less the first time and see how your body feels. Doing a minute of frog jumps or skaters will get even the fittest of you huffing and puffing!! If you want more cardio, add in a running exercise in between each activity.
Once you’ve tried it once, you can repeat the circuit twice through, or even 3 times to really up the ante!
Kids Gym and Balance Class
Our second Kids Exercise Class is a series of simple strength and balance exercises to keep your kids entertained and moving.
Strength exercises are so important building your kid’s muscles and bones. While balance and coordination exercises improve their fine motor performance – things like writing and typing, which will help them do better at school.
These benefits are on top of the usual improvements in concentration, learning and health that are seen when performing other types of exercises.
So here is a series of simple strength and balance exercises your kids can follow at home.
- Squats
- Wheel barrow / Pushups
- Crab Walking
- Punching overhead
- Bridging
- Spiderman Crawling
- Tug of War
- “Twister”
- Throw/Catch Ball
- “Tightrope” walking
Then repeat the whole program 1-2 more times.
As you can see there is a lot you can do with minimal equipment and space. So hopefully this has given you a few more ideas of ways you can keep your kids active!
The kids have had heaps of fun putting this together with me, and your kids will love it too!
Don’t forget – If you want a copy of the exercise sheets, send me a message with your email and I’ll get them straight to your inbox.
